LAN Network Booting DA For Win 2K/XP/2K3/PE

It assumes that users have network connected PXE-Boot clients.

In PXE LAN, one can use pxeLinux to load the .dsk image file you make using memdisk raw.

For how to use pxelinux, please go to its official forum for details.

The following method uses grldr instead of pxelinux in a similar fashion:

(For the use of grldr and memdisk, please go to http://disklessangel.com website the product page and download the g4dimdiskerunt.zip package and run the Setup.exe inside. This will copy a copy of grldr and memdisk to the root of your system drive.)

1. Copy grldr and memdisk and the disk image to LAN server;
2. Config tftp server, use grldr as boot file, create a menu.lst configuration file like this:

title Boot 2K using map
map --mem (pd)/2k.dsk (hd0)
map --hook
root (hd0,0)
chainloader (hd0,0)/ntldr

title Boot 2K using memdisk
kernel (pd)/memdisk raw
initrd (pd)/2k.dsk

title Boot XP using map
map --mem (pd)/xp.dsk (hd0)
map --hook
root (hd0,0)
chainloader (hd0,0)/ntldr

title Boot XP using memdisk
kernel (pd)/memdisk raw
initrd (pd)/xp.dsk

title Boot 2K3 using map
map --mem (pd)/2k3.dsk (hd0)
map --hook
root (hd0,0)
chainloader (hd0,0)/ntldr

title Boot 2K3 using memdisk
kernel (pd)/memdisk raw
initrd (pd)/2k3.dsk

title Boot WinPE using map
map --mem --unsafe-boot (pd)/winpe.dsk (hd0)
map --hook
root (hd0,0)
chainloader (hd0,0)/peldr

title Boot WinPE using memdisk
kernel (pd)/memdisk raw
initrd (pd)/winpe.dsk

title Boot VistaPE using map
map --mem --unsafe-boot (pd)/vistape.dsk (hd0)
map --hook
root (hd0,0)
chainloader (hd0,0)/bootmgr

title Boot VistaPE using memdisk
kernel (pd)/memdisk raw
initrd (pd)/vistape.dsk

One can also compress the above .dsk files into .gz files for loading if appropriate.

grldr will scan the following location for the menu.lst configuration file, use the first one found:

/menu.lst/01-88-99-AA-BB-CC-DD
/menu.lst/C000025B
/menu.lst/C000025
/menu.lst/C00002
/menu.lst/C0000
/menu.lst/C000
/menu.lst/C00
/menu.lst/C0
/menu.lst/C
/menu.lst/default

Here assumes that network card MAC of the client machine is 88:99:AA:BB:CCD, and the IP address is 192.0.2.91, which is C000025B in hexadecimal.
